any length as long as u can get the hair in the straightener. i think 2 1/4 is good. since most straighteners are only an inch. remember to protect ur hair too with product.

I use an 'Andis' flat iron && its like 20 dollars from target. my hair is medium coarse & it works great on it. But i'VE HEARD THAT CHI and Ti CERAMIC FLAT IRONS ARE GOOD TOO
