Hello! I adopted a Rottweiler (mix) puppy from a shelter about two weeks ago. He is 4 months old and neutered. I was looking for a calm submissive pup, and he was definitely that. However, now that he’s here- he’s more nervous/fearful submissive. He will walk up to you, but if you go to pet him, he hits the floor and goes belly up. If you try to grab his collar to lead him somewhere, he yelps and whines. He plays okay with my adult male Rottie (who is dominant), but if he tries to play rough, the puppy will snap at him (teeth bared, not a playful mouthing) and hit the ground. In addition, when he is outside (he is mostly inside), he whines, scratches on the door, jumps on the windows, and throws a fit. I’m planning on enrolling him in obedience classes, and hopefully it’ll help. However, could this turn into more of a problem as he gets older? I don’t want his nervousness to turn into fear biting, nor do I want it to cause a problem with my adult and him as he gets older. Does anyone…
