Best Flat Iron (Hair Straightener) for my Hair Type?

I'm looking for a hair straightener that will actually work for me. My fiance's mother bought me one for Christmas but it's less than satisfactory. I need it to heat up very well since my hair is naturally curly and thick. Right now it's in short layers so I'd prefer a 1" to a 1 1/2". Thanks in advance!

but i picked one up at walmart for only $30.

I would recommend GHDs or another expensive brand. Although pricey, they are definatly worth it.
I would suggest a Paul Mitchell flat iron, they are pretty pricey, but they get the job done pretty fast, give your hair a glossy finish, and easy to use . About 20-35 minutes at least

I have thick curly hair as well, I use my flat iron every day. I have been thru many and finally figured out that I need to spend a good amount on it. The one I am using now and LOVE is called Sedu pro

They are very pricey around the price of £100 – £150
But so worth it
The CHI I have one and as soon as you plug it in it heats up, and one swipe down a section of your hair and it is straight. It gets plenty hot
This is the best straightener I have ever tried, I love it!
The best flat iron or hair straightener is the Chi, they are so awesome, there’s no other that even comes close. I got this trial one that’s really good directly from the Chi company itself. All I needed to do was try it out for at least 60 days and then give feedback every few days.
It works really awesome, it just heats up super fast and takes me about 5 minutes to straighten my hair and I got really long wavy hair.
